The Shadow Circus Creature Theatre, San Franciscos most belligerent puppetry troupe, is producing a new live event; The Shadow Circus Vaudeville Theatre and were looking for performers to participate in this new puppet-hosted variety show. Performers of all kinds are encouraged to join in; comedians, clowns, jugglers, magicians, acrobats, burlesque acts, poetry readers, interpretive dancers or people that just want to bang on a shopping cart with a rusty chainsaw while wearing a bear suit... Hell, any crazy madcap act you can come up with were willing to consider featuring on our show. Musical acts are welcome, so long as you can get on stage and start with little or no setup...
This is because this production wont follow the standard setup of opening act, middle act and headliner but instead will have all the acts alternating (amidst the thread of a puppet-driven story arch) to form one big cohesive show. Think of it like a live version of The Muppet Show; each guest star will get 3-4 acts interspersed throughout the evening.
Also like The Muppet Show, wed like to have interaction between the puppets and Guest Stars for some of the acts during the show. Sing a duet with a drunken velociraptor! Do a comedy routine with a giant cockroach! The possibilities are endless!
Were hoping to have around 3-4 Guest Stars per night (depending on the length and nature of the acts). The first Shadow Circus Vaudeville Theatre will be in late October... If the format is successful, it will be a monthly event.
If you or anyone you know is interested in being a part of this totally unique event, e-mail me (Dave Haaz-Baroque) via creaturetheatre at yahoo.com. Please give a description of your act, and a link to any online examples of your work that you may have.
